Founded
1998

Empowering women reentering society from jail or prison, Gilead House offers sober housing and support through counseling, life skills training, and relapse prevention. This nonprofit center, taking only Indiana Medicaid, is located in a renovated space that was previously a YWCA building. Their program is 90-120 days with an optional extended stay. Gilead House uses evidence-based methods and personalized support to empower residents on their path to sustained recovery. Housing is for women participating in their outpatient program, generally running from 8:45AM-12PM Monday-Friday. Residents may not have cell phones or visitations for the first 30 days in the program. After the first 30 days, visitations are allowed on Saturdays and Sundays 2-4PM. Women may not start looking for a job until 60 days in the program, and may not start a job until 75 days in the program. These policies work to promote focusing on recovery and laying a strong foundation that will have lasting impact.
