Clients in this phase get daily medical check-ups, around-the-clock monitoring, proper nutrition, and vitamins. After detox, clients are eligible to begin residential treatment. This program length is usually 30 days and offers a variety of therapies like CBT, DBT, EMDR, 12-Step, individual counseling, gestalt therapy, animal therapy, as well as gender-specific groups. 1st Step also provides educational courses that include relapse prevention, healthy communication, goal setting, and coping skills. This program is tailored to meet the needs of these specific careers. Located just north of Fort Lauderdale in Pompano Beach, 1st Step provides condo-like housing in sunny Florida. Clients share the gender-specific units with one other person, each getting their own full-size bed.
