Cygnet Oaks
A clean, verified profile with contacts and key program details.
The team at Cygnet is dedicated to providing a positive and comfortable experience and atmosphere with specialised high support inpatient rehabilitation for men experiencing mental illness, with a focus on achieving community reintegration. Ideal candidates have a mental health diagnosis such as schizophrenia, mood or personality disorders, bipolar, and depression, and who have previous failed treatment attempts, or who are detained under the Mental Health Act. Their program is best suited for men with a primary mental illness diagnosis, who may be enduring co-occurring substance abuse, a mild learning disability, autism spectrum disorder, or may require long-term care for acute mental health needs. Their program utilises various therapies like psychodynamic therapy, family therapy, occupational therapy, art therapy, drama therapy and other complementary therapies for a personalised approach. The programs at Cygnet emphasise patient-centred care by actively involving patients in their treatment plans, and all aspects of life while recovering. Depending on individual needs, clients reside in 2 different wards that provide varying levels of support. Their 20-bed lodge is where most clients will start their recovery journeys, generally stepping down from acute or a low secure service. A 15-bed house offers transitional care for individuals, situated in its own corridor with separate living spaces, preparing clients to transition back into their community and practise their newly-learned skills. Clients have access to amenities such as en-suite bedrooms, a therapy kitchen, activity areas, an art room, horticultural therapy and gardens, rooms designated for therapy or relaxation, a classroom with computer access, a gym and more. With a blend of occupational therapy, psychology and clinical interventions, Cygnet Oaks provides a balanced approach that helps men enhance their personal and professional skills to rebuild their lives.
