The Albert O. Nichols House in Herkimer, New York, helps men who are recovering from substance use and mental health disorders. Located at 201 King Street, near the Mohawk River and Herkimer Historic District, it offers a peaceful and supportive place to live. The center is certified by Office of Addiction Services and Supports and helps men who are homeless or living in places not good for recovery. It provides a safe place to stay while helping them move toward living on their own. The program focuses on building life skills while also offering outpatient counseling, medication-assisted treatment (MAT), and help with personal care. Therapies include individual and group counseling, trauma support, and help for depression, anxiety, and more. The center also offers anger management and family counseling, helping residents grow stronger emotionally and socially during recovery. Special programs include help with job training, parenting skills, and community living. Residents benefit from a calm neighborhood close to parks, libraries, and public transportation. Built to honor Albert O. Nichols, a WWI veteran and local business owner, the house teaches the values of strength, integrity, and hard work in recovery and daily life.
