Alaska Behavioral Health Child and Family Clinic treats children, teens, and families dealing with emotional and behavioral issues like trauma, anxiety, and aggression. They offer intensive outpatient programs ( IOP) and partial hospitalization program ( PHP) highlighting primary focus on trauma-informed care. This clinic is part of the wide national network of Child Trauma Centers in and outside of Alaska. An approach using therapies that are tailored to fit each family's needs such as specialized treatments like trauma-focused cognitive behavioral therapy (TF-CBT) and eye movement desensitization and reprocessing (EMDR). This helps children and families develop life skills, improve relationships through effective communication and positive attitude towards handling life’s challenges. This clinic is basically outpatient and community-based and also provides a partial hospitalization program for ages 9-17 for an intensive therapy program. Treatment is customized to support patients and their families in their own homes and communities rather than in a live-in setting. The outpatient program includes skills development, activity therapies and lunch.
