Founded
2012

Founded by 3 physicians in 2012, 2nd Chance’s central Kentucky clinic offers outpatient treatment for those suffering from addiction. The program includes individual and group counseling, medical visits with a physician, and case management. Medication-assisted treatment (MAT) is available at 2nd Chance. Medication-assisted treatment (MAT) consists of medical visits to determine a patient’s diagnosis and manage their treatment plan. MAT uses medication to ease the withdrawal symptoms and cravings that often accompany addiction and chemical dependency. This can help patients quickly and more easily transition into a recovery lifestyle. Individual counseling is commonly combined with group counseling and medication-assisted treatment. This combination of treatment modalities can increase the likelihood of long-term sobriety. Individual counseling enables patients to discuss their individual needs in a safe, private setting. Group meetings are held on a weekly basis; topics include relapse prevention, chemical dependency, parenting, domestic violence, anger management, and more. In groups, patients can benefit from seeing others struggling with cravings and behavior patterns, and everyone can contribute to the discussion. 2nd Chance case managers advocate for the patients in their care, and work closely with them to support their journey to recovery. The 2nd Chance case management team works closely with local organizations to connect patients with resources that will help them overcome any obstacles on the road to recovery.
